Furthermore, if you are gluten-free, be sure to select certified gluten-free oats for your granola.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nuts<\/strong> &#8211; use your favorite nuts. Some favorites include pecans, walnuts, cashews, pistachios, peanuts, and almonds. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Salt <\/strong>&#8211; I use fine sea salt in this granola recipe. Don&#8217;t skip the salt, as it brings out the flavor in the granola. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Oil <\/strong>&#8211; I love using melted coconut oil or olive oil in my granola. Olive oil gives the granola a deeper, more complex flavor, while the coconut oil lends a hint of coconut flavor to the baked granola. If I include coconut flakes, I also make sure to use coconut oil.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sweetener<\/strong> &#8211; My recipe is naturally sweetened with either honey or maple syrup. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Vanilla extract<\/strong> &#8211; You won&#8217;t turn back once you add vanilla extract to your granola! It enhances the flavor and leaves everyone asking what secret ingredient you included. I love to use my <a href=\"https:\/\/addapinch.com\/homemade-vanilla-extract-recipe\/\">homemade vanilla extract<\/a>! <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ground cinnamon<\/strong> &#8211; I love to use ground cinnamon in my granola, especially during the fall and winter. It gives it such a warmth that tastes amazing!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dried fruits<\/strong> &#8211; Choose dried cranberries, cherries, raisins, apricots, apples, or bananas. You&#8217;ll want to chop any large dried fruit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-optional-ingredients\">Optional Ingredients:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Chia seeds<\/strong> &#8211; Chia seeds contain protein and are high in Omega-3. They are also an excellent source of fiber. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hemp hearts<\/strong> &#8211; I love to include hemp hearts in my granola as they also contain protein and are a good source of fiber. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unsweetened coconut flake<\/strong><span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"> &#8211; I love to add unsweetened coconut flake for those in my family who are coconut lovers! It adds delicious coconut flavor without additional sugar. Coconut flake is also<\/span> a good source of fiber, protein, and fat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chocolate chips<\/strong> &#8211; I also enjoy occasionally adding dark chocolate chips that are naturally sweetened. This is especially delicious if I&#8217;m using dried cherries! You can use dairy-free chocolate chips if it meets your dietary needs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-by-step-instructions\"> Step-by-Step Instructions<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prep. <\/strong>Preheat the oven to 350\u00ba F. Stir in the dried fruit. If adding chocolate chips, ensure your granola has cooled completely to prevent the chocolate from melting. Press the warm granola with a metal spatula. Then, carefully turn the granola with the spatula once it has cooled slightly, keeping the clumps that form if desired. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-favorite-homemade-granola-flavor-combinations\">Favorite Homemade Granola Flavor Combinations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are a few of my family&#8217;s favorite flavor combinations for our homemade granola:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Oatmeal Raisin Granola. <\/strong>Use raisins and the ground cinnamon and vanilla extract in the recipe.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chocolate Cherry Almond Granola. <\/strong>Use dried cherries and almond slivers.
